LOS ANGELES — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. A new publicly displayed election tally puts Barri Worth Girvan ahead of Timothy Gaspar in the Los Angeles City Council District 3 election. NBC Los Angeles’ live county-results page, checked November 5, displays 27,779 votes for Girvan (50.21%) and 27,549 for Gaspar (49.79%) — a difference of just 230 votes.
Why this is an important change
California58’s earlier report described Gaspar ahead by 294 votes in a different preliminary snapshot. The available NBC table now shows Girvan ahead. Those reports are not contradictory certified outcomes: as additional ballots are tabulated, the ordering can change. The NBC live table does not provide a clearly identified new district-level update timestamp in the material reviewed, so California58 is describing the displayed count when checked, not inventing an official release time.
District 3 and its future representative
The contest determines who succeeds term-limited Councilmember Bob Blumenfield in the western San Fernando Valley. Council decisions shape neighborhood services, housing, transit, infrastructure and city budgets. Neither an early lead nor a later reversal proves the eventual outcome while valid ballots remain to be processed.
What voters should watch
Readers should compare updates directly with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s official election results. The county’s canvass includes eligible mailed and provisional ballots. There is no certified winner in the figures reported here.
