HOLLYWOOD, Los Angeles — October 26, 2026. Caltrans is preparing to reduce eastbound traffic capacity on Franklin Avenue between Vine Street and Argyle Avenue as part of a US-101 bridge rehabilitation project. Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, November 2, and the agency’s current plan keeps the eastbound roadway narrowed through December 5.

On the first night, crews plan to install protective K-rail. From 11 p.m. November 2 to 4 a.m. November 3, eastbound Franklin Avenue is scheduled to operate with two lanes. After that phase, the agency anticipates three eastbound lanes across the work period. The affected sidewalk will also close temporarily.

Pedestrians have a different detour from motorists

Caltrans directs eastbound pedestrians south on Vine Street and then east on Yucca Street; westbound pedestrians are directed south on Argyle Avenue and then west on Yucca Street. This is an important distinction for residents and visitors traveling on foot in the area around the undercrossing.

The Franklin work is one part of a larger $20.8 million bridge rehabilitation program, not a closure of the whole Hollywood Freeway. Monitor QuickMap and local signs as conditions change. Source: Caltrans District 7 notice, October 23.
