LOS ANGELES, Los Angeles County — 2026 election update. A Los Angeles charter amendment clarifying campaign-finance rules for Los Angeles Unified school board elections holds a large early Yes majority.
Reported results
Measure SC: 657,170 Yes votes (78.04%) and 184,906 No (21.96%) in the latest NBC Los Angeles election results display.
What voters decided
Measure SC concerns the Los Angeles City Charter’s treatment of campaign contributions and enforcement for Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education candidates. A Yes vote would clarify that many citywide campaign-finance requirements also cover LAUSD board elections and allow certain future changes by ordinance. It does not authorize school construction bonds, raise a new property tax or elect board members. LAUSD’s governance is distinct from municipal City Council elections. The result still awaits certification.
