UPDATE — NOVEMBER 4 EVENING (ABC7 LIVE UPDATE PUBLISHED NOVEMBER 5 AT 01:56 UTC). Nithya Raman leads Karen Bass 405,193 votes (51.7%) to 379,069 (48.3%), a margin of 26,124 votes. This is a substantial change from the 16,594-vote morning gap described in the earlier report below. NBC’s live election tracker labels the mayoral race too early to call. The count is not certified; expected-vote estimates vary across media desks and do not equal a completed canvass. ABC7 updated election report; NBC Los Angeles live results.
PREVIOUS NOVEMBER 4 MORNING SNAPSHOT.
LOS ANGELES — November 4, 2026, morning update. Councilmember Nithya Raman continues to lead incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in the Los Angeles mayoral race as more election-night ballots are reported. The NBC Los Angeles Wednesday-morning results display lists Raman at 377,458 votes (51.1%) and Bass at 360,864 (48.9%), a difference of 16,594 votes. The NBC tracker estimates 62.7% of expected votes reported, an estimate rather than a completed count.
How the lead changed overnight
Bass initially led by approximately 10,000 votes in the first evening release. At 1:44 a.m. on November 4, Raman had moved ahead 338,740 to 334,762 — a margin of 3,978. NBC’s earlier 3 a.m. reporting showed Raman 373,161 and Bass 358,553. The later 377,458-to-360,864 figure above supersedes those older snapshots. None is certification.
What the two candidates represent
Bass, the incumbent, has campaigned on her record on housing, homelessness, city operations and public safety. Raman has highlighted changes she says are needed in the delivery of city services, housing policy and the response to homelessness. These are campaign positions, not judgments about the candidates by California58.
When to expect the next numbers
Los Angeles County’s election office is scheduled to issue additional updates at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, according to NBC Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder controls the official vote count. Ballot processing and certification continue beyond Election Day, so the newsroom is not declaring a winner.
